Typology

Point Size: Measurement of height of word

Typeface Families: Share common root name and Characterisitc

Type Styles:
               Text Face - Body content
               Display: Bigger bloder text
               Decorative: For elaborate titles

Legability: How it is visible on the page
                    eg Reversed text
Robust text is better to see on a colour background

Leading: Distance measured from baseline of one of the type to the basline of the line that proceeds it

Tight Leading is harder to read!
                 e.g 18pt 18pt - 18pt 21pt

Kerning: Space between two letters

Columns: 7-10 words per line
                 8-10pt text
                 looks neater/easier to read
even flow - longest line at the top

Justification: fitting type into a measure and handling any space that isn't fitted with type
                      fully aligned used in newspapers
                      left/right lined best

Tracking: Overall space between letters

Orphan: Fragment of a paragraph only one or two lines long
Looks awkward and out of place

Widow: Word on its own at the end of a paragraph

Grid: System to organize type and image so info can be shown easily
          e.g The Guardian

Jan Tschichold, 1928

The layout of this piece is to get the info across fast and quickly, showing that the left side is more important than the right and should be read first.

The colour yellow is known to grab attention, so with the combination of bright yellow and strong black writing it is used to grab the attention of the audiences quickly and easily.

Odermatt and Tissi, 1992

Will Kunz, 1995

Here is a more energetic layout, almost a wave effect, influencing where the viewer looks and what order they read the text.
