Ute Behrend

With this book i dont fully understand why the photographer put these images in the book, front cover to cover there are just images, no explanations, just the images left to speak for themselves.

Dazed/Confused

The writing in this book is quite unusual, to be able to read this writing you have to let the light hit it to be able to see it fully. 

The pictures in this book contain all the photographers work that has been published in the magazine Dazed/Confused.

The interesting thing about this book is that it is in tow parts. One part is the 'Dazed' part, and the other 'confused'. You go through one half of the book, and then have to flip it over to the other to follow the other images.

What stood out to me about this book is that it  catalogues the fashion of the public in all the major cities of the world.

The summary of words from the model gives the viewer an insight into what the person likes to do, is wearing, and there favorite place in there chosen city.

   

The relaxed, casual poses gives it a candid feel, and makes it more relate-able to the audience.

Like with The Tokyo Look Book, a shopping list is included to show where each person had purchased there close, making it accessible to the viewer.

Phil Oh

Paul Hillier

Paul Hillier is a freelance photographer who was born in Montreal (though he never learned French) and has lived in Toronto, Nova Scotia and Japan. What stood out to me about his work was the framing of the subject, with a simple portrait with the model looking directing at the camera, posing slightly. The expression of themselves through their clothes was also a big interest to me.
